I couldn't resist the opportunity to make a playlist, so here's my contribution to our Hamlet project.

Copy of Daily Reminder - Created with Haiku Deck, presentation software that inspires
Honors kids are preparing for a DESCENT INTO MADNESS! Just kidding, but we are going to look at the art of suspense by beginning with an essay from the master: Alfred Hitchcock!
Wednesday, September 16 - Created with Haiku Deck, presentation software that inspires I am fortunate to work at Ladera Vista for many reasons, but one of them is its commitment to the arts. This commitment begins at the top with our excellent school district. The Fullerton School District's collaboration with the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation exposes our kids to art from their earliest days at FSD. Today we had our "Art Journal" assembly with the talented Lauralyn Eschner. Lauralyn explained to our students the beauty and purpose of keeping an art journal and at the end of the assembly, each student was given a high-quality art journal to use throughout the year. When we returned to class, my students raided my art supply cabinet and went to work. I was amazed at what I saw. Students demonstrated various techniques and were using art jargon like it was nothing. I realized that this is because they are exposed to so much art in this district, that by the time they get to junior high they are old pros. I can't tell you how peaceful and enjoyable it was to watch my homeroom students creating such beauty. This was a great antidote to the hectic pace of the first couple of days of the school year. When it came time to clean up, the students wasted no time and within FOUR MINUTES (I timed them because I was so amazed) it was like it never happened. I can't wait to see what they do next. |
